George Foreman Waffles

Yes, it is possible to make bluish waffles on a George Foreman indoor grill. Actually, it's quite easy. Why blue? Why not?

First, take that drip pan dish thing that they give you and turn it upside down an put it under the front legs. This elevates the grill to be almost perfectly level. Spray it with PAM (or something) and pre-heat it (while you finishing mixing the ingredients).

Don't forget the blue food coloring. Then pour the batter onto the back 2/3 to 3/4 of the grill. Don't fill the entire grill with batter. It will start to thicken up right away and will not slide out the front.

Then grill away! Stop when the steam stops coming out (5 min or so). As you can see, it has grown to take up the entire grill. Good thing you didn't fill it full!

Just lift it off with that plastic spatula thing they give you with the grill. Pour on some Canadian maple syrup and dig in!

It would probably work to substitute blueberries for blue food coloring, if you like that sort of thing. Adding them early in the process (instead of say, sprinkling them on top after you pour in the batter) should give the same color effect without the chunky berry bits throughout.

Nice use of the grill though. After we got an outdoor grill I never use the George Foreman much anymore. We have the family size, so one waffle would be huge. :)

I unfortunately do not have a George Foreman grill. But your recipes are always interesting and useful, as long as I cut down the amount of suger ;)

Good idea. That may work to color it a deeper bluish purple. Mine actually turned out greenish because of the yellow egg. You may have to cut them up first to really get them into bits, I don't know how much stirring would break them apart. I like blueberries very much, just not when they are mushy inside pancakes and/or waffles, so I won't try it.

However, now you have a reason to get out your indoor grill again. You two could make one giant waffle and start eating from either end like in some sort of sappy movie.

This recipe only had 1 tbsp of sugar! That's some kind of record.

So you proved me wrong...I didn't think it would work, but is probably because you made it blue, and blue is always superior. I'll have to try it some day.
