Europe!
Today was a super exciting day! I found out that I'll for sure be attending an awesome conference in Ghent, Belgium in February. It should be a great time. There are lots of famous people attending and it will be small and discussion based. More than half of the talks sound interesting, which is much better than most conferences. I should be there for about a week.
I've never been to Europe before. I spent a while today checking out plane tickets. I'm thinking that maybe instead of flying in and out of Brussels, I can fly into London and out of Frankfurt. The flights that way are actually cheaper than Brussels, but the train prices add up to a slightly higher total cost. The best part is that my supervisor Wendy has enough money for travel to cover my costs.
I'll be sure to travel with a Canadian flag on my luggage!

I would expect the train prices from Canada to Europe to add up to a significantly higher price than plane tickets. ;)
Wow, that's very exciting Sean.
I'm so jealous! I think I get to go to san deigo again... does that count as a cool conference trip? Nope.
You could always travel with the flag that flies over the SC capital on your bags. I'm sure that would go over very well.
Or perhaps I should wear this shirt.
Only if you pose like the dude in the picture while you are wearing it...
For those who have no clue what flag John is referring to, here is a picture. Actually, there was a huge debate and it was decided that flying that flag on the top of the capital was too prominent of a location. So instead a compromise was made just a couple of years ago and it is now only on a pole in the front lawn with lights on it 24/7.
You're going to have a great time. I guess you won't have time to spend in London if you fly through there, but if you do there is a lot of great stuff to see and do. Same with Frankfurt.
And you should try to do a train ride - they're fun!
