Update: I mentioned this photo opportunity to Aaron today and, living downtown, he was quite familiar with this fine specimen. In fact he filled me in on an interesting episode that Darth was recently in. Apparently some weeks back, Aaron saw an old "like 85 years old" lady get very very angry at Darth. She was unfamiliar with his previous films and thought that his helmet looked like one that the Nazis wore.

I remembered something that does not show up in the video. The box that he wears on his chest makes Darth Vader sounds if he pushes a button. He does this between each playing of the song (the song you hear is the only one he plays).

Sean, Sean, Sean. What are you thinking eating up all the University's outgoing bandwidth like that? 37MB for a 35s video? Motion JPEG? Ouch!

I've recompressed it for you using H.264 and AAC audio at full quality, and it now comes to under 5MB (I actually have it down to 2, and the quality is prettty good, but I'm currently recompressing at a slightly higher target bitrate to compare the results).

I'm also adding the necessary hinting to the data so that it can be streamed -- right now, being motion JPEG, you have to download the whole thing before it can be watched. This way, people should be able to watch it as it downloads.

This has immediately jumped up my list to one of the 5 coolest things ever. The lightsaber is a fantastic touch. And the "old lady" story is brilliant. Thanks, Sean. You made my week.
